Be careful not to get any on your skin in this process. Add a second piece of full width roll roofing over the first. Overlap the next strip of roofing material with the first by at least 4 inches. Nail it in place with roofing nails that penetrate at least 3 4 inch into.

Prepare a valley between joined roofs by cutting a strip that is 18 inches wide and covers the entire length of the valley. This reduces the chances of wrinkles after the roofing is installed.

To seal a plumbing vent spread roofing cement around the pipe. Lay the first strip of material so that it overhangs the drip edges of your roof by about a quarter inch. Nail the roofing in place with short roofing nails spaced 6 inches apart and 1 inch in from the outer edges of the roll roofing. Then apply roofing cement evenly around the roof edges where these strips are going to go.

Cut a hole in the roll roofing and slip it over as well.
